Lake Barrington is an artificial lake in northern Tasmania, 40 km south of Devonport. It is 20 km long[1]

Creation

It was built on the Forth River in 1969 to provide a head of water for the Devils Gate Power Station.[2] The foreshore is protected by the state government as a nature recreation area[3] Escape To accommodation overlooks Lake Barrington situated at 314 Lake Barrington Road Wilmot Tasmania. The luxury accommodation consists of a one bedroom house and is 600 metres from the lake. The road to the boat ramp goes passed the entry to Escape To.From here you can access the Forth Falls which cascade into the lake. Rowing

Lake Barrington is the site of a world-standard rowing course. It hosted the 1990 World Rowing Championships and hosts the annual Tasmanian schools Head of the River rowing regatta and has hosted several Australian Rowing Championships.

Lake Barrington has hosted the Australian Championships in 1984 [4] 1987 [5], 1987, 1990 [6][7] 1994, 1997, 2003, 2006, and 2009. The next Australian Championships at Lake Barrington will be in 2014.
